The topic of the day: Economic slowdown in Germany

Are the fat years over soon? Trade conflicts and the approaching Brexit burden the German economy more and more. Now leading economic institutes have significantly lowered their forecast for Germany. After the economy shrank in the spring, gross domestic product is likely to have fallen in the third quarter, economists predicted - criticizing Olaf Scholz's course.

The Minister of Finance wants to make no new debts despite the weakening economy. The so-called black zero has been a fixture of German fiscal policy for years. Meanwhile, however, the calls for more investment louder. Read here why Germany should say goodbye to its thriftiness.
