Hanan Khayat, head of the olive department at the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, said in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the Directorate is working with all concerned to identify the problems of farmers and secure the requirements of agricultural production, pointing out that the expected production in the current season up to 26 thousand tons of fruits and 3 thousand tons Of oil.

She pointed out that the number of trees in the production stage is about 3 million trees compared to more than 6 million trees in the years before the crisis, pointing out that the high temperature flower phase in June and July caused a decline in production.

She pointed out that the most prominent suffering during the crisis was the difficulty of reaching the farmer to his agricultural field and thus not being able to harvest the crop.Technicians also suffered from the difficulty of communicating with farmers and farmers in their agricultural fields to inform them of the latest technologies that contribute to increasing production at the lowest cost.

Engineer Mohammad Al-Shahadat, head of the Agricultural Extension Department at the Directorate of Agriculture, said that the Directorate opened two schools for organic production of olives in Jassim and planted their mission to apply all scientific procedures and provide all the requirements of work and take notes on the process of productive work and identify the existing problems and propose appropriate solutions and apply them on the ground. The Assistant Director of Agriculture, Bassam Al-Hashish, said that the plan to produce olive seedlings starts in the middle of this month through two nurseries in Azraa.

For his part, Director of Industry Abdul Wahid Al-Awad pointed out that the province of Daraa has 42 olive presses, of which 20 presses returned to work, stressing that most of the presses have modern production lines and finished their preparations to receive the current season.

The province's production of olive fruits last season amounted to 23 thousand tons.
