Pyongyang-Sana
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) confirmed on Tuesday that it had successfully launched a new Bokgokseong-3 missile from a submarine off Wonsan Bay on the country's eastern sea.
The DPRK Academy of Defense Science "successfully tested a new type of Bokgoksong-3 ballistic missile launched from submarines off Wonsan Bay in the East Korean Sea yesterday morning," the DPRK news agency reported.
The agency pointed out that the launch has no negative impact on the security of neighboring countries and is of great importance because it "heralds a new stage to contain external threats."
In early August, the DPRK successfully tested a new missile launch system under the supervision of President Kim Jong-un, who previously stressed the need to develop high-strength weapons to counter any threats and defend the country's security.
Pyongyang asserts that everything it does is in the context of self-defense in the face of open hostile US threats.
