[New Delhi 2nd Reuters]-Indian Prime Minister Modi called for abolishment of disposable plastic consumption by 2022 in a public speech on the 2nd.
In a speech commemorating the birth of “Independent Father” Gandhi, the prime minister called, “Gandhi was very interested in hygiene, environmental protection, and biological protection. For these three, plastic is a threat.”
Government officials have announced to Reuters that shelved a complete ban. During the period of dealing with the slowdown of the domestic economy and unemployment, the industry was said to have been hit hard.
Reuters reported in August that India would ban plastic bags, cups and straws entirely from October 2nd.
