Tajikistan's ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zubaidullah Zubaidov, who is on an official mission to Damascus, affirmed his country's desire to develop relations with Syria at various levels and stand by it until the complete victory over terrorism.
During his official visit to Syria, Zubaidov said in a meeting with SANA that he discussed with Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad during their meeting yesterday ways to strengthen bilateral relations, exchange of delegations and continue political consultations in order to reactivate the agreements signed between the two countries and oversee their implementation, hoping to start These consultations will be held soon in Tajikistan at the level of the foreign ministries of the two countries.
Zubidov said that during his last visit to Syria in May, he conveyed a written message from Tajik Foreign Minister Sirajuddin Mehruddin to the Foreign and Expatriate Minister Walid Muallem in which the Tajik side expressed its desire to develop bilateral relations between the two countries.
Zubidov said that his country suffered from terrorism during the years of civil war and during the war and the instability of neighboring Afghanistan, stressing the importance of cooperation of States in the fight against terrorism.
Zubaidov said that the international press does not convey the reality of the situation in Syria, pointing out that despite the misleading that prevailed at the beginning of the crisis over the situation in Syria, the Syrians succeeded in resisting and achieving victory in 2019, noting the steadfastness of the Syrians and their determination to continue and progress and expressing his happiness with the return of safety And stability while roaming the streets and markets of Damascus.
Zubaidov noted that Tajik President Imam Ali Rahman visited Damascus in 2007 and signed seven cooperation agreements between the two countries, including agreements in the field of culture, media, economy, education, tourism and investment, and an agreement between the two chambers of commerce. The reconstruction phase of Syria and the next phase will witness further exchange of bilateral delegations, especially in the field of tourism.
Ambassador Zubidov pointed out that the Syrian and Tajik peoples have shared history, customs and traditions for thousands of years.
Tajikistan lies in Central Asia with its capital Dushanbe, a mountainous tourist country with lakes covering about 2 percent of its territory and an estimated population of 8 million.
