(CNN Spanish) - Continuing with the celebrations of the month of Hispanic Heritage in the United States, we give rise to a talk we had in Zona Pop with Andrés Ovalles, Project Manager of Walt Disney Imagineers and son of Mexicans living in southern California .

What does Andrés do in this group of the Walt Disney imaginers ? Simple, it is who brings to reality everything you see in the company's films.

On this occasion, he is one of the imaginers who has worked closely on the most recent attraction of the parks: Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.

But before going into detail on this planet located in a galaxy far away, we will tell you that the term imagineer comes from the English words imagine (imagine) and the word e ngineer (engineer).

This department of the company is made up of engineers, writers, architects, graphic designers, animators, show designers and more, although in reality they are best described as storytellers, dreamers and creators.

Pop Zone: Imaginers are responsible for creating all kinds of Disney attractions, hotels and theme parks. How do you define your work?

Andrés Ovalles: “In Walt Disney World Imagineers we have more than 140 disciplines that make up our team, where the works are completely different from each other, but we know that we are the branch that we have the responsibility and take our most beloved stories and make them into elements physicists, inventing worlds and places so that you can live and experience, touch, smell and be part of what we offer you. ”

If you have lived in a galaxy far away, and you do not know what we are talking about, we will tell you that it is the largest expansion in the history of Disney Parks. A land on the planet Batuu, a destination on the outer edge of the galaxy, on the border of the wild space that offers all visitors 2 new main attractions: Millennium Falcon : Smugglers Run and Star Wars : Rise of the Resistance .

Located inside the Disney's Hollywood Studios, the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge themed section opened on August 29, 2019. Just at dawn, thousands of fans were the first to enjoy this area, which is located on the planet Batuu. (Photo courtesy Walt Disney Parks. David Roark, photographer)

Pop Zone: Can you tell us about the two attractions of Galaxy's Edge?

AO “Millennuim Falcon: Smuggler's Run” has already opened its doors in the two parks in the United States. The dream of each fan where we give them the opportunity to be inside the Millennium Falcoln and to pilot it. And the second is "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance", the most immersive attraction with the newest and most ambitious technology that Walt Disney Imagineering has made. They will be in the middle of a climactic battle between rebellion and resistance. It will open on December 5 at Walt Disney World and on January 17 at Disneyland resort. ”

Pop Zone: As a Mexican, what does it mean to be part of Walt Disney's imaginators ?

AO “It's a difficult dream to explain, I grew up in a Disney family, where our vacation was not to go to the beach, it was to go to Disneylnad Resort in California and now be part of who creates these new experiences for new generations and those they come, it's a difficult dream to explain. ”
