Attack in Paris: Wife of the Messerangreifers released from police custody

On Thursday, a man in Paris had killed four colleagues, investigators suspect an Islamist background. Now the wife of the attacker killed in the attack is again at large.



The suspect's wife has been released from police custody three days after the knife attack in Paris police prefecture. The 38-year-old has been on Sunday night at large, confirmed the judiciary of the German Press Agency. Details of the reasons were not disclosed.

Several French media also report the release. According to the AFP news agency, no further legal action would be taken.

The woman was arrested on Thursday shortly after the knife attack. The 45-year-old police employee had killed colleagues with a knife in the police headquarters in the French capital four. According to current investigations, an act with a terrorist background is not unlikely. According to the anti-terrorism prosecutor's office, the alleged perpetrator and his wife wrote dozens of text messages in the hours leading up to the attack, all about religious content.

The time of the woman in custody had been extended several times. Normally, 24 hours are scheduled in France.

Next Tuesday, for the four victims, three men and a mother of two small children, a memorial service will take place in the courtyard of the Paris Police Prefecture, in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron.
