Polling stations opened their doors today to Tunisians to vote in the legislative elections held in 27 electoral districts in all provinces of the country.

According to Agence France-Presse that 15 thousand and 737 candidates are competing for 217 seats in parliament among the 1,552 lists distributed among the lists of party and coalition and independent.

The number of registered voters for the legislative and presidential elections is more than 7 million, while the total number of polling stations is 13,830 inside and outside Tunisia.

Voting on the lists is held in one round and seats are distributed at the district level on the basis of proportional representation.

Tunisia entered the stage of "electoral silence" yesterday in preparation for the opening of the ballot boxes for legislative elections.

It is expected to announce the preliminary results of the legislative elections on the tenth of this month and the final results will be announced on the thirteenth of next month according to the official calendar set by the Independent High Electoral Commission.
