Participants at the meeting of the Committee on Amending Law 14 of 2015 on Internal Trade and Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection discussed the provisions of the law and the articles to be amended to stimulate the movement of markets and suppress violations.

During the meeting held today at the ministry building, the participants pointed out that the amendments that will be included in the law contribute effectively and seriously to suppress the violations that occur in the markets to ensure the right and interest of both the consumer and the seller, and to ensure the control of markets and the availability of basic consumer goods and materials according to the standard specifications of health and safety conditions. Participants stressed the need to tighten sanctions against those who monopolize basic food and non-food consumer goods and materials and refrain from selling them and cause chaos in markets and prices and lift penalties for violations of possession and sale of anonymous and smuggled materials because of harm to the health of citizens and the national economy.

Assistant Minister Jamal Al-Din Shuaib said that according to the new amendments to the law, the fine will be increased to three times the amount seized against anyone who trades or behaves in addition to penalties up to imprisonment and paying large fines against anyone who produces materials that violate the specifications and health conditions. Forged gauges, gauges, stamps and stamps mislead the quality, specifications and quality of the product.

The amendments also include an increase in fines and imprisonment for anyone who monopolizes basic goods or commodities in order to influence prices and exploit the needs of citizens, in addition to penalties related to selling at a surplus price, and not to highlight customs declarations and specifications cards, and not to deal with invoices, fraud, fraud and manipulation of specifications.

It is noteworthy that the Committee on the amendment of Law 14 of 2015 includes representatives from the Ministries of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection and Justice and the Association of Consumer Protection and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Union of Craftsmen.
