British police today arrested 135 people who took part in demonstrations organized to protest climate change.
Activists have blocked roads, bridges and squares across Westminster, where the British government is based, to call on the government to take urgent action to curb carbon emissions, according to Reuters.
London police said on Twitter that 135 people had been arrested.
Earlier in the day, activists from the environmental non-governmental organization Extensions Rebellion began gathering in New Zealand, Australia and other countries on the first day of a "civil disobedience" scheduled to last 15 days around the world to denounce governments' inaction in the face of climate change.
