[Istanbul 6th Reuters]-Turkey's President Erdogan and US President Trump talked about a plan to jointly establish a "safe zone" on the east bank of the Euphrates River in Syria and agreed to meet in Washington next month did. Turkish Presidential Office revealed.
The Turkish government has previously criticized the US for not implementing a plan to establish a safe zone, and Mr. Erdogan has shown the possibility of a cross-border attack on Syria's northeast on the 5th.
According to the Turkish Presidential Office, Mr. Erdogan expressed dissatisfaction with the US military and security officials failing to implement the plan during a telephone conference. He also insisted on the need to eliminate threats from the Kurdish militia organization, the People's Defense Force (YPG), from the safety zone.
Next month's meeting was decided by invitation from Mr. Trump. The White House declined to comment.
Turkey and the US agreed in August to establish a safety zone.
