(CNN) - The Mexican government arranged an Air Force plane to transfer the remains of Mexican singer José José, if there is agreement between the relatives of Mexican singer José José, President Andres Manuel López Obrador revealed Tuesday.
The president of Mexico said he was informed of this request made by the singer's family and he approved it.
López Obrador said that the Mexican consulate in Miami continues to provide assistance to José José's family and that "he will not participate in decisions that correspond to the family."
This Sunday Sara Sosa, the youngest daughter of the Mexican singer, told Univisión that her father's remains would be cremated in Miami, Florida, where they are currently. The "half" of the ashes would later be taken to Mexico.
José José, stage name of José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz, was diagnosed in March 2017 with pancreatic cancer and since then, according to the same he disclosed in a video where he was considerably thinner, had undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments .
This Wednesday the Ministry of Culture, through the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), will pay tribute to the Mexican artist with an artistic program in which the National Symphony Orchestra will participate, and members of the Opera of Fine Arts and the Saloma Quartet.
The tribute to the singer will be between 10:00 am and 1 pm at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in the Mexican capital.
