(CNN Spanish) - "Has it occurred to you to resign the presidency?" That was the question that a journalist asked the president of Ecuador, Lenín Moreno, on Tuesday night in a national chain interview, regarding the protests that broke out following the announcement of new economic measures.
"No, under any circumstances and I don't see why I would have to do it if I am making the right decisions," Moreno responded to the question during the interview conducted by journalists from the Ecuadorian medium Teleamazonas.

“The moment the Ecuadorian people want me to leave, I will leave, but not precisely because those who want to return to the plundering, to the accident of the past want to return, not for that reason; That should be the will of the Ecuadorian people, ”said the president.

"However, I am taking the most appropriate measures so that there are the necessary palliatives and end this negative situation," he added.
