The University Housing Council at Al-Baath University in Homs is working to provide students with comfortable accommodation.
Dr. Elias Boutros, Vice President of Al-Baath University for Administrative and Student Affairs explained in a statement to SANA that the number of university housing units is 8 units with a capacity of up to thirteen thousand students. The first and third units are currently being rehabilitated and maintained to serve them at the beginning of the second semester at an estimated cost of 108 Millions of Lira capacity of up to 3 thousand students, pointing to the allocation of four housing units with a capacity of 8 thousand students and the same housing units for males with a capacity of 4725 students.
Boutros pointed out that the issuance of residential lists is a succession of students and priority will be for female students and then to the applied colleges, as all students who applied for housing from old and new students will live in their rooms that have been properly secured, pointing to the rehabilitation of the road between the university city and university colleges 2 km which is an important route for students because it saves time, effort and money for students to reach their colleges on campus.
Boutros pointed to the formation of a follow-up committee by the engineering office in the central administration of the university whose task is to follow up all matters related to housing units in the event of any malfunction or emergency to be urgent and immediate maintenance.
Dr. Ghassan Idris, Director of the University City, pointed out that the work mechanism established by the University City and the presidency of the university aims to provide comfortable accommodation for students, considering that the congestion in the current university city is normal because of the issuance of housing lists in a sequential manner and the arrival of new lists.
Dr. Idris pointed out that the university city includes a service complex with 14 shops dedicated to vegetables, shaving, library, sewing and cafeterias, in addition to a bread baker to provide it to the students.
Idris explained that the fifteenth unit, which was dedicated to hosting the housing of medical and dental students for the last years as a result of the rehabilitation of the first and third units, has been given note that the children of military martyrs with a certificate of honor, whatever their scientific competence, may reside in the same housing unit.
