The Director General of the Support and Development of Local Production and Exports Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Meda pointed out that the work of the Authority in the next phase is directed towards supporting local production, especially export, in order to enhance the quality of products and enable companies and enterprises to meet the needs of the domestic market and enter foreign markets to re-balance the production process and the gradual and balanced expansion towards export. .
Meda said in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that these measures come to develop the institutional framework governing production support, especially small and medium-sized companies and represent a new component of the package of measures and policies approved by the government to reshape the production process and promote economic growth projects and support the public and private sectors.
On the vision to develop the export business, Mede explained that, based on the essence of Law No. 3 of 2016, which established the Authority, the plan of the Authority for the next phase will focus on supporting all the phases and stages of production, starting from research and development through production, marketing, distribution and shipping, stressing the need to strengthen joint cooperation Between chambers of industry and commerce and the private sector to support their products and face the difficulties they face.
He pointed out that the work of the Authority in the next phase should not be limited to post-production workshops only in terms of supporting the shipping operations and organizing exhibitions and the establishment of commercial centers and others, it must pay attention to the process of supporting local production by paying attention to the obstacles and the bottlenecks in the production process. Determinants of production capacities, obsolescence of machinery and equipment, production lines and shortage of manpower, especially qualified expertise and competencies.
He pointed out that the devastating war had a catastrophic impact on all economic and productive sectors, pointing to the Authority's endeavor to find ways to support the national domestic production to get out of its suffocating crisis and help provide appropriate and necessary support to overcome the problems of various economic sectors to create a local product with a competitive advantage in Foreign markets.
Mede stressed the importance of establishing permanent Syrian trade centers in foreign markets to introduce and promote our products, in addition to supporting the internal and external exhibitions of great efficiency that achieve added value for the local product, pointing to the constant quest for the recovery of the export sector and the restoration of traditional markets and the search for new markets.
It is worth mentioning that the Export Development and Promotion Authority was established by Legislative Decree No. 6 of 2009 as a non-profit body, but to promote Syrian exports in the international markets.
