In September 2019, a customer tried to sell "movie money", movie tickets, at the Monoprix store in Caen (Calvados).

On September 16th, a 30-year-old man arrives at the Monoprix checkout to set up an electric toothbrush. The hostess begins to cash the item and realizes that the customer has presented counterfeit notes, the "movie money", used during film shoots. The security of the store tries to stop him, but he struggles against the agents. In passing, he violently kicks and kicks on a security post and a portico. His bag hits a window and the breeze. When two policemen arrive, the man is always very agitated: "hysterical" will say one of them, "he was driving like a bull" says the second. He is mastered with great difficulty and placed in custody.

The defendant was tried yesterday by the Criminal Court. Currently, he is serving a prison sentence for past events. Since 2006 (when he was 17 years old), he has accumulated 15 mentions on his criminal record.

The man regrets his behavior and indicates that he "panicked when he realized he was holding fake notes" . He bought the same day a bike for his daughter, via a retail site, and thinks the counterfeit money was given to him on this occasion.

Distribution of counterfeit currency but not counterfeit

The prosecutor retains the violence, the rebellion against the police. It considers that there was distribution of counterfeit but not counterfeit money. It also retains the filouterie vis-à-vis the hoteliers. The author having a loaded record, it requires 8 months of imprisonment.

Defense counsel does not deny that the scene was "very agitated" but considers that there was no intentional violence. He regrets that the counterfeit banknotes could not be presented in court because if the cashier had already printed a receipt, it means they are so easily identifiable.

Finally, the court relaxes the accused for acts of fraud and violence against the police but sentences him to 8 months in prison including 4 months suspended for other offenses.
