Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet announced that candidates for a prison guard recruitment competition had been disqualified in 2018. They showed signs of radicalization.

Twenty-five people were expelled in 2018 from a competition for recruitment of prison guards for radicalization, announced Thursday, October 10, 2019 the Minister of Justice Nicolas Belloubet. This statement comes as the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner is heard by the Senate Committee on the Law, after the attack at the police headquarters in Paris.

"We are looking at whether these people are registered in a number of files. If this is the case, they are not allowed to pass the admission tests , " said Nicole Belloubet on RTL .

"Last year, we removed 25 people from these competitions to avoid recruitments that do not meet the requirements we want," she said.

The Interior Ministry and the police hierarchy are implicated for not having formally reported the signs of radicalization of the author of the killing at the police headquarters on 3 October, which killed four people.

"For two or three years we have set up a penitentiary intelligence service. [...] It allows us to deal with the radicalization of prisoners but can also intervene with the staff. When we have reports, we conduct investigations that may lead to separation from a number of people, " Belloubet said.
