The strong wind of the night has done some damage in the fleet of ministries. If François Jambou and Ambrogio Beccaria were able to take advantage of it, others, like the Czech Pavel Roubal met with great difficulties.

Thursday, October 10, 11 am: the night was sporty, for the Ministries. A competitor, Pavel Roubal, triggered his distress beacon, after typing an OFNI, so this is the first abandonment of this Mini. Several competitors have encountered problems, like Paul Cloarac, who tore his Spi after a start at the pile.

François Jambou, who "likes big time", emerged as the winner of this night, having doubled his lead over his direct competitors, Bouroullec and Tréhin. The two men are now caught by ... Marie Gendron and Erwan Le Mené. In Serie, Ambrogio Beccaria made a bet yesterday, he has impressed since: here he is at the top, with a crazy pace, and 234 miles in 24 hours, more than 11 knots average!

The Portuguese trade winds will begin to soften today, off Cape St. Vincent. Good news for the runners who will be able to blow. From tomorrow, the wind will become almost nonexistent and the approach of the Canary Islands looks to be laborious and technical. Twists will have to wait until the end.

PROTO

1. François Jambou (865 - Team BFR Tide High Yellow) to 483.7 miles from the finish; 2. Axel Tréhin (945 - Project Rescue Ocean) 34.7 miles from the first; 3. Tanguy Bouroullec (969 - Cerfrance) 41.8 miles from the first

SERIES

1. Ambrogio Beccaria (943 - Geomag) 528.5 miles from the finish 2. Julien Letissier (869 - Reno Style) 7.9 miles from the first; 3- Guillaume l'Hostis (868 - Belon's Alternative Sailing-Constructions) 17.1 miles from the first.

Thursday, October 10, 8 am: The Czech skipper Pavel Roubal set off his distress beacon tonight at 11:30 pm as he sailed off Portugal. Safe and secure, Pavel was recovered by helicopter at 2 o'clock. The transom of his Mini was ripped off. The skipper landed in Lisbon this morning where he was taken care of. He then contacted the race management to say that he was fine.

Denis Hugues, race director of the Mini-Transat, says: "Pavel hit an OFNI who ripped the transom off his boat. He failed to control the waterway and triggered the distress beacon. It was about 50 miles from the Portuguese coast and was recovered by a helicopter from MRCC Lisbon. He made a routine visit to the Lisbon Hospital which revealed that he is in good health. "

Wednesday, October 9, 7 pm: except bad surprise, the podium seems to take shape, in proto. Jambou created a small lead, ahead of Bouroullec and Tréhin, shoulder to shoulder. In series, the fight is tight! 11 sailors stand in 25 miles, including Felix de Navacelle in front, ahead of Guillaume L'Hostis and Florian Quenot, with his round bow boat completes the podium. Ambrogio Beccaria, who tried an option east this night, is coming back strongly. He was in contact with the leading men in the early evening.

Hard blow for David Kremer. The back of his proto Bon Pied Bon Peil (260), the oldest of the plateau (20 years), has opened. He rallied Baiona where he tries to regain his senses before considering the various options and see if he can start again. At 18h, Jean-Baptiste Ternon had left Corunna and Joe Lacey was about to leave Gijón. Jonathan Chodkiewiez is still in A Coruña.

The pace will be very strong next night in a powerful North Stream (with gusts up to 35 knots) and a nice swell. The miles will go by before the wind begins to soften from tomorrow, to become very shy around the Canaries from Friday.

Wednesday, October 9, 11 am: it goes down quickly to the Canaries! François Jambou and Axel Tréhin are neck and neck, as well as Tanguy Bouroullec, with his mini foils is interposed between the two men. Mari Gendron is fourth, a little pmus indented. Surprise in series, Ambrogio Beccaria is no longer in the lead, and seems to have lost some ground compared to Guillaume L'hostis, in the lead. Would not that be a blow that the Italian tries, going further east?

Tuesday, October 8, 6 pm: François Jambou and Axel Tréhin indulge in a nice duel in proto, with behind Raphael Lutard, Marie Gendron and Erwan Le Mené. Ambrogio Beccaria still leads in series.

Some mishaps to note also. Jonathan Chodkiewiez had to divert to Corunna to repair his ripped messenger and solve battery problems. Joe Lacey is on a technical stopover in Gijon, where he repairs his electrical damage. Other worries for competitors: Guillaume Quilfen is mounted to the mast to raise his halyard spinnaker, same misfortune for Benoît Formet.

Monday, October 7, 12 pm : As expected, the passage of a high pressure bubble in the Bay of Biscay slowed the skippers, but did not upset the positions on the road to Cape Finisterre. At 10 am, Axel Tréhin (proto) leads the fleet, but François Jambou (895) is not far, as Tanguy Bouroullec. In series, Ambrogio Beccaria is always ahead.

This Monday, the Ministries will sail in a handy wind and a significant swell (and contrary) that will increase the next night. Cape Finisterre could be crossed next night or Tuesday morning.

Sunday, October 6 at 10 pm : in the Bay of Biscay, after more than 24 hours of racing, the favorites confirm their rank. In proto, we find Axel Tréhin, François Jambou and Raphaël Lutard, at the forefront. The three men follow each other closely as their trajectories converge on Cape Finisterre. In Serie, Italy's Ambrogio Beccaria leads a tight fleet of De Navacelle, Noslier and Quenot.

After a first front last night, the 87 competitors in the fleet will face an anticyclone, which should reshuffle the cards. Especially as the swell of 2.50 m can still a little more addictive case. Then, past Cape Finistère, winds to the carriers should propel the skippers to the Canaries.

Sunday, October 6, 3 pm: Finally, the North may not be as effective as that. Beccaria (Série) and Lutard (Proto) took an option slightly further south, which allows them to point in the lead, this Sunday afternoon.

Sunday, October 6, 11 am: after 24 hours of racing the option to the north seems to pay. Axel Tréhin leads a tight pack, where we find Lutard (Arkema), Bouroullec (CerFrance), Jambou (Team BFR) and Gendron (SNCF) in the Top 5. Note that Lutard is equipped with foils on his boat, and could well be successful in the next few hours. Well started yesterday, Erwan Le Mené is slightly behind, in tenth position. In series, logically, Ambrogio Beccaria took the lead. The Italian is one of the favorites in the category, if not THE favorite.

Saturday, October 5, 10 pm: after 12 hours of sailing, the first leaders escape into the Bay of Biscay. Four skippers escape for the moment: Marie Gendron, Vincent Lancien, Erwan Le Mené and Axel Tréhin. In Series, Matthieu Vincent leads the fleet. But beware, a first front will arrive on the runners in the night. The first grains could create some surprises.

Saturday, October 5, 10:30 am: The Mini-Transat is off for two stages across the Atlantic, between La Rochelle and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the Canaries, then to Marin, for the second stage . Initially, 87 competitors entered on Mini 6.50 meters. There are two categories: Minis Proto, single-product boats with their unique specifics, and the Series, produced more than ten times.

The departure, initially scheduled for September 22, has been shifted by one week due to difficult weather conditions. It is now left for the 87 competitors, who will have to face a difficult Bay of Biscay.
