The West-France Podcasts Wall welcomes a new partner. The Drenche, the newspaper which, on every current issue, proposes a text to know what we are talking about and two opposing opinions. The goal: to help readers to form their own opinion, to facilitate citizen engagement. Part of the 3rd promotion of OFF7, the start-up accelerator of Ouest-France, Le Drenche now offers a podcast. Interview with Antoine Dujardin, one of the co-founders.

What is Le Drenche?

The Drenche is a debate journal in which you can read for each subject, a short and factual context, followed by a text from someone who is "For", and a text from someone who is "Against" with definite opinions. The purpose of this journal is to enable readers to form their own opinions on political, economic, cultural, social, and other topics. The Drenche exists on the web but also in paper version, drawn to 140 000 copies, distributed free every month in Paris, Lille but also on the whole western region thanks to our partner Ouest-France.

Who are you talking to?

The Drenche is distributed on the main university sites. It is therefore primarily addressed to students for whom impartiality and open-mindedness are important values. But it is more generally addressed to all those who seek to open their mind, to confront their point of view in a debate of substance.

How much do you have to work for Le Drenche?

We are 9 today, including one person in charge of producing podcasts.

After a diary, you launch a podcast. Why ?

First because it is a more accessible format for many, and paradoxically that allows to enter much deeper into the topics. In addition, it responds to a need: many people are fond of debates but they often turn into a confrontation of people and become confused. The promise of the Drenche podcast is to allow for a clear and audible discussion of topics that sometimes divide society. With our expertise of the debate, we want to propose a format that does not promote the permanent clash, and on the contrary that allows legitimate people to compare their opinion soothing.

You are partners of Ouest-France via the program off7 and it is naturally that you chose to be hosted by The West-France Podcast Wall for your audio project?

Indeed, the OFF7 program has been supporting us for several months and has allowed us to progress quickly, while respecting our values. It has also allowed us to work with Ouest-France and benefit from their expertise in many areas, including podcasts. It is therefore very natural that we have chosen to be hosted by The Wall Podcasts West-France.
