The Nantes Indret site of Naval Group commits € 100m of investments within four years, anticipates a 10% increase in recruitment per year, targeting future activity on future nuclear launching submarines and aircraft carrier.

Emmanuel Chol, new boss of the Naval Group site in Nantes-Indret since September 1st has a smile when asked if the commercial discussions on the AIP system of electricity generation for conventional submarines are well engaged.

Technology with 70 patents filed

Obviously, this world first, advanced technology that allows to produce the hydrogen needed for a fuel cell from reforming diesel and increases up to three weeks the range of action of a conventional submarine underwater, promises to be one as a major technological breakthrough that positions Naval Group as a leader in a highly competitive market. This technology developed on the Indret site has resulted in the filing of seventy patents.

22 parallel innovation programs

And this is just one of the 22 innovation programs run by the group's Nantes establishment. Naval Group is actively developing additive manufacturing (3D) techniques.

These 22 parallel programs are an extraordinary feature of the site. They are developed both with customers in France and abroad, on programs very upstream because we are already working on the future nuclear submarines launchers of the machine or the future aircraft carrier and also programs in progress. Indret also has an important activity in its expertise in the field of propulsion systems for ships operating in France and internationally, said Emmanuel Chol, 26 years of seniority in the company, specialist submarines.

Recruitment increase of 10% per year

The new director was in charge of the activity of the Maintenance of Operational Conditions (MCO) of the nuclear launching submarines on the Ile Longue site in Brest. The site of Indret (1,300 people at the end of 2019) and Technocampus Océan (R & D, 250 people), announces a recruitment increase of 10% per year. € 100m of investments are planned on this site for the next four years.
