Austrian author Peter Handke is the winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize for Literature for the "linguistic ingenuity that explores the periphery and specificity of human life." The Polish writer, Olga Tokarczuk, for her part, received the 2018 Nobel Prize for the “imagination of her narrative that represents the crossing of borders as a way of life”. The 2018 prize was postponed so far as a result of the sexual and financial scandal faced by the Swedish academy.
