Three years after the release of the Livebox 4, here is the arrival on the market of the 5th generation. This is not a mixed box. This one is dedicated to the fiber, warns immediately Pierre Jacobs, the boss Orange big West. Meeting on the premises of Orange Labs in Lannion, this Wednesday, October 9th, some of the specialists from lannionnais who worked on the design of this small box made the article.
A very sober look
If the case is completely black and lighter it is not a coincidence. It was designed from the outset to have a footprint on the environment as low as possible, minus 29% compared to the Livebox4. On the one hand, there is no intermediate case since it is directly connected to the fiber, the number of components has been reduced, so energy moderation, and it is fully recyclable. The orange company logo disappears. It was not recyclable with the rest. Also completed the ventilation that heated the device. She is therefore quieter.
With integrated smart wifi
We test the wifi in a test apartment on the Lannion site. It allows us to see if the terminals are correctly passing from one point to another, explains Christian Gacon, director Orange labs Lannion.
