We asked Mika Furukawa (a part-time lecturer at a women's art university) who studies Korean art culture about the background of the girl image.

--You seem to be from the genre of “popular art”. This is a word you don't hear much in Japan, but will it change your view of the girl image?
“Popular art is art born in response to the democratization movement that fights against the military dictatorship.
