BERLIN - Senior opposition politicians from the Green and Left parties demanded the German government halt arms exports

Berlin-Sana

Leading opposition politicians from the Green and Left parties called on the German government to stop exporting arms and materiel to the Turkish regime against the backdrop of its aggression on Syrian territory.

Bundestag Deputy Speaker Claudia Root and German parliament member Jim Ozdemir confirmed that the Turkish regime's aggression on Syrian territory is contrary to international law, pointing out that the policy of normalizing Germany's relations with Ankara has reinforced Erdogan's position in his authoritarian anti-democratic policy. At the same time, they called for putting pressure on the Turkish regime and recalling its ambassador to Berlin.

The deputy head of the parliamentary bloc of the opposition Left Party in parliament, Svim Dagdalin, said: "Instead of flattery, it needs to exert maximum pressure on the Turkish regime," demanding an immediate ban on arms exports to Turkey.

The Turkish regime forces are launching an aggression on Syrian territory in Hasakah and Raqqa in parallel with the targeting of several villages and towns, focusing on infrastructure and vital facilities such as water and electricity stations, dams, oil installations and residential neighborhoods, causing the death of a number of civilians and causing extensive damage and destruction of infrastructure.
