(CNN Spanish) - This Friday will continue in New York the trial against Juan Antonio “Tony” Hernández, former congressman from Honduras and brother of the president of the country.
On Thursday, Giovani Rodríguez, former member of the Honduran National Police and drug trafficker, was extradited to the United States and entered into a cooperation agreement with the Prosecutor's Office.
On the sixth day of the trial, Rodriguez said he offered Tony Hernández, accused and brother of the president of Honduras, information on police operations to stop drug trafficking. In return, Rodriguez received protection and promotion, as he said in his statement.

Giovani Rodríguez added that Tony Hernández received money from the former mayor of El Paraíso, Copán, Alexender Ardón to finance the political campaign of the president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, thus confirming the statement delivered by Ardón himself in court earlier this week.
Rodriguez said he saw plastic money packages wrapped in plastic in a house allegedly belonging to Tony Hernández located in Tegucigalpa.

However, during the defense interrogation, Rodríguez acknowledged that he never verified whether that house belonged to the defendant.
Tony Hernández has pleaded not guilty to all charges and his brother Juan Orlando Hernández, current president of Honduras, said he has never received money from drug trafficking.
