Two years have passed since Myanmar's minority Muslim Rohingya people became refugees and fled to their neighboring country, Bangladesh. Even if the government encourages the return, few people return to Myanmar, and Bangladesh is expected to have a longer refugee camp with over 910,000 people. Why can't Rohingya people return to their homes? Why are the Rohingya people in this predicament?

“Bamboo and vinyl house, I don't often live in this place. Everyone was sleeping with a goza on the soil.”

At the end of September, an international NGO “Meeting for Refugees” (AAR Japan) in Tokyo held a report meeting for the Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh. The talented wife Mrs. Devi, who visited the tour, told the refugee camp.

According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 740,000 people have fled to Bangladesh since August 2017, when a large refugee outflow occurred. There are over 910,000 Rohingya people in the camp, including those who have fled before. 55% of them are children under the age of 18.

AAR provides water hygiene facilities such as toilets and wells, as well as support activities to reduce stress and trauma in children and women.

Mrs. Devi said, “Indifference to what is happening in the world is a sin. Some people are living in a corner of the earth as human beings. I appealed.

It is a difficult problem. The language is similar to the Bengali Chittagong dialect spoken in Bangladesh.

It was in 1950 that the word “Rohingya” first appeared in the literature. However, the origin of the community called Rohingya is prevalent in the 15th to 18th centuries, the “Arakan Kingdom” in the Rakhine region and southern Bangladesh. The majority were Buddhists, but there were many Muslims and they coexisted.

Myanmar is a multi-ethnic country, with over 60% Burmese and 135 indigenous peoples. However, Rohingya is not included in this indigenous people, and the government does not recognize it as a citizen. Therefore, the exact number is unknown, but it is said that there are nearly 1.1 million people in Myanmar before the refugee outflow and nearly 2 million people including other countries.

-Why is Rohingya not recognized as a citizen?

Burma became independent in 1948. 6 ...
