President Donald Trump has announced that Kevin McAllenan, the acting secretary of Homeland Security, has resigned as the latest in a long line of senior officials who have resigned or been dismissed.
McLennan stayed in the department for six months after replacing former secretary Kirsten Nielsen and overseeing raids against undocumented immigrants.
"Kevin McAllenan did a great job as acting secretary of homeland security," Trump said in a tweet on Twitter. "We've worked well together so that cross-border crossings have dropped significantly."
Trump said he would announce a new acting homeland security minister next week, noting that there were many candidates.
It is noteworthy that Trump is the first US president in history, his administration has seen so many resignations and dismissals since he arrived at the White House in early 2017, which clearly shows the size of differences within the US administration on how to deal with domestic issues and foreign policy and the way to deal with international crises.
