Alejandro Giammattei's failed trip to Venezuela

Alejandro Giammattei, President-elect of Guatemala, had plans to meet this Saturday with Juan Guaidó in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, but was rejected at Customs upon arrival at the airport. According to the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Giammattei presented himself with an Italian passport, which caught the attention of the immigration authorities and escorted the future Guatemalan president back to the plane. According to Giammattei, he was not even allowed to reach the diplomatic checkpoint. The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry added that President-elect of Guatamala also did not have a formal invitation from the government of the besieged President Nicolás Maduro.
