The French police arrested five people from the attacker's environment who stabbed four police officers in a Paris police headquarters in early October. The arrests took place in the Val-d'Oise department north of Paris, judges and investigators said. A 45-year-old employee of the police department stabbed four colleagues on October 3 before being shot dead by a police officer.
According to current investigations, an act with a terrorist background is not unlikely. According to the anti-terrorism prosecutor's office, the alleged perpetrator and his wife wrote dozens of text messages in the hours leading up to the attack, all about religious content. He also had contacts with members of the radical Islamic Salafist movement.
