The 66th Health Ministers Meeting of the Eastern Mediterranean Countries kicked off in Tehran today with the participation of delegations from 19 countries including Syria.
Head of the Syrian delegation, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Naseer Abdul Rahman Khalifawi, explained in his speech during the meeting the reality of vaccines in Syria and the efforts exerted to reach the target groups in all regions, pointing out that Syria has been able to eradicate polio despite terrorism and unilateral economic measures against the people. Syrian.
He pointed out that Syria was before the crisis in the forefront of the Eastern Mediterranean countries in terms of vaccine delivery indicators, but the systematic terrorist targeting of health infrastructure and the prevention of terrorists access to these areas led to a decline in some of these indicators.
In a statement to SANA's correspondent in Tehran, Khalifawi explained that Syria, despite the unjust terrorist war, continued to provide health services to citizens in all possible areas.
Delegates from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Egypt, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates will take part in this meeting, which will last until the 17th of this month.
