The Lebanese National Information Agency (NNA) reported that the fire that broke out in Al-Mushrif area in Mount Lebanon two days ago did not stop despite the intensive efforts by the concerned members of the civil defense in the centers of Chouf, Sidon, Beirut and the suburb accompanied by the Lebanese army and extinguishing aircraft.
The fire spread to a large extent as the fire spread by the speed of hot winds that reached four houses in Al-Mushrif and burned it completely, while the balconies of other houses were evacuated after the evacuation of residents since last night due to the severe suffocation that affected dozens and to avoid the worst.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Interior Ministry announced that Cypriot helicopters were taking part in the fire suppression operations in Mushrif.
According to the agency, the fires moved at night from Al-Mushrif towards Damour, Dibiyeh, Kfarhim and Kfarmati. The fire extends over thousands of meters which turned the entrances of Chouf, Beirut and Sidon into smoke surrounding the whole area.
In turn, the Director General of the Lebanese Civil Defense Brigadier General Raymond Khattar said today that there are about 104 fires on Lebanese territory and about 200 mechanisms of civil defense to put out.
Khattar spoke of five minor injuries among the civil defense elements in addition to the explosion of 20 mines due to fires in the Chouf area.
He pointed out that the fire in the Chouf has not seen Lebanon for decades, indicating that it is communicating with all concerned to contribute to extinguish.
The fires in Lebanon also included the forest of Zgharta, Dbayeh, Qurna el Hamra, and the embarrassment of Metn, among others.
