New York (CNN Business) - Google's latest smartphone responds to more than just touch and audio commands.

The company presented its next-generation smartphone, the Pixel 4, at a major product launch event in New York on Tuesday. The device, which comes in standard and XL sizes, features a Soli radar chip to allow faster and safer facial recognition and gesture controls. With the new phone, for example, you can greet an image of Pikachu and have the greeting returned to you.

The Pixel 4 also changed its rear camera for two, a movement in line with most smartphones on the market, but even less than the offer of three rear cameras of the iPhone 11 Pro. The cameras are placed in a square device in The upper left part of the device, which closely resembles Apple's new camera structure and features a new automatic transcription application that uses artificial intelligence to translate audio into text almost in real time.

The price of the phone starts at $ 799, $ 100 more than the basic iPhone 11 model. Orders will begin shipping on October 24.

The details about the new smartphone were not a big surprise: gadget blogs and even Google itself leaked so many photos and videos and details about the Pixel 4 that a leading technology publication called it "the most leaked phone in history." The company has been working overtime to generate enthusiasm for its Pixel line, which owns less than 1% of the global smartphone market, according to IDC's global quarterly mobile phone tracker. Even so, it has generated a cult following over the years.

Perhaps the most important news is simply the wide availability of the smartphone. The Pixel 4 will be available in all major operators. Previously it was only available on Verizon.

  • This was the second generation of Pixel phones:

Google used its press event on Tuesday to double its hardware ambitions and filter its vision of products that seem to touch every corner of consumers' lives.

The company showed an update of its line of Chrome laptops. The Pixelbook Go features a 15% larger battery to provide a more durable charge without changing the light and thin form factor. The device, which runs on Google’s Chrome operating system, features a new keyboard and a wavy background for easy grip. It comes only in matt black and its price starts at $ 649.

Google also showed the new Pixel Buds, its response to Apple AirPods, with five hours on a single charge and 24 hours through a wireless charging case. The headphones, which are found in the ear canal, come in a variety of colors. Pixel Buds will cost $ 179 when they launch next year.

The company also introduced the new Nest Mini. In May, it announced that Google Home and Nest teams were joining under a smart home brand, Nest. Now, the Google Home Mini speaker has been redesigned and renamed as Nest Mini, a powerful device the size of a hockey puck that looks almost identical to last year's model.

The new Nest Mini (whose price starts at $ 49) includes more advanced internal elements, including a base that is twice as strong as the original, a built-in wall mount, the ability to better hear your voice in noisy environments and transmit transfers from one room to another. The speaker comes with a machine learning chip to better anticipate user commands and a new built-in Google Assistant. Together with a handful of new colorful fabric liners, the top is made of 100% recycled plastic bottles.
