Donald Trump's lawyer Rudolph Giuliani will not cooperate with the House of Representatives when considering possible impeachment proceedings against the US president. This was announced by his lawyer Jon Sale.
About two weeks ago, Giuliani was asked by the chairmen of the committee conducting the investigation to hand over documents related to the Ukrainian economy.
Lawyer Sale told the commission now, on the last day of the deadline, his client refused. "It seems to be an unconstitutional, groundless and illegitimate investigation of impeachment," the lawyer wrote in his statement. In similar words, the White House had responded to the reaction of the Democrats to the Ukrainian situation - and also excluded any cooperation. Sale admits the obvious parallels themselves. Shortly after the announcement of the letter, the US broadcaster CNN reported that Giuliani will soon divorce lawyer Sale.
Donald Trump and the Ukraine Affair: One Deal Too Much
The committee had justified his request to Giuliani as follows: He had admitted on television, as a personal advocate of the President, the Ukrainian government to have acted against the former US Vice President Joe Biden.
Trump has come under pressure because of the revelations about the phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky. The US President is suspected of abuse of office because he demanded in the telephone conversation investigations against the Democratic presidential candidate Biden and his son Hunter.
