Lattakia governorate has witnessed a distinguished tourist season this year compared to last year. Reservations and occupancy increased by 20 percent until last September, where accommodation and overnight periods during the peak periods were fully filled in all hotels of all categories.
In a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin, Director of Tourism Yasser Dway said that one of the most important landmarks that characterized the current tourist season is the phenomenon of popular tourism, especially after the opening of several sites such as the site of La Plage and Albacete and the Union of Workers and popular tourism site on the southern sand Corniche, which includes a restaurant and various services.
Daway pointed out that the current month of October and unusual in previous years witnessed a distinctive tourist activity.The accommodation is almost full and accompanied by the Department of Tourism activities and various activities in partnership with government agencies and the local community, most notably festivals and artistic and cultural events in Slunfeh, Jabla, Haffa, Albasit, Aramo and Ugarit.
Douai revealed that the Directorate of Tourism will be presented during the forum of tourism investment scheduled for the end of this month 15 investment projects and is currently receiving all requests submitted by the administrative units for the establishment of tourism projects for study and presentation to the authorities, pointing out that the files have been prepared for the projects that will be displayed within the forum, including Qirdaha Hotel The Ramita Hotel and a site of 32 dunums in Albacete to establish a hotel and cabins and restaurants for popular tourism in addition to 5 sites in the region of Jableh.
Dway said: The follow-up work of tourist establishments and monitoring the markets in order to reach the best quality standards in the provision of services have been organized and the right of violators and referred to the competent judiciary and the closure of some of the facilities for charging excessive prices or other violations.
Douai pointed out to the permanent follow-up to the reality of tourist establishments has been rehabilitated a good number of them and has been granted new licenses in the area of Salnafah and Qal'at Bani Qahtan.We are working to support the promotion of tourism through the media to tourist sites in the province and highlighting the aesthetic of the province and the possibilities and components of various tourism.
