"The giraffe on fire" by Salvador Dalí was stolen from a gallery in San Francisco.

(CNN) - San Francisco police are looking for a man who was recorded in a surveillance video stealing an engraving of Salvador Dalí worth $ 20,000 from an art gallery on Sunday.

The suspect entered the Dennis Rae Fine Art gallery and took the first work of art that was exhibited inside the store, "The giraffe in call" by Dalí. The work was framed and on an exhibition stand in front of the premises, according to KGO, a CNN affiliate.

"It is quite important in terms of the engraving period," Angela Kellett, director of the Dennis Rae Fine Art Gallery, told KGO. "She is very, very well known. It is a beautiful piece. First he was inspired by Picasso. ”

The work was displayed in a lectern in the gallery.

In the surveillance video obtained by KGO you can see a man casually walking towards the gallery while another person seems to wait for him outside. Not even a minute later, the man leaves the gallery with the engraving in his hand and moves away from the area.

The artwork was made by Dalí between 1966 and 1967, according to KGO.

"It was our exhibition article," Kellett told KGO. "We have a special show by Salvador Dalí right now and, yes, they just ran away with him, too fast for someone to do anything about it."

The security video shows a man taking the engraving.

The piece of art was not saved at the time of the robbery, David Schach of Dennis Rae Fine Art told CNN, and is valued at $ 20,000. Police said they are investigating the robbery and ask that whoever has information contact them.

In 2012, an engraving by Salvador Dalí that was donated anonymously to the Goodwill organization in Washington won $ 21,005 at an online auction.
