Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriates, received today Abdul Salam Ould Ahmed Saleh, Resident Representative of the Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
Al-Miqdad stressed the importance of continuing the constructive cooperation between the Syrian government and the organization, which is one of the most important and oldest UN organizations working in Syria.
Mekdad noted FAO's commitment to the principles of professionalism, neutrality and independence, and welcomed its departure from politicization in its work.
Mekdad also condemned the unilateral coercive measures adopted by Western countries, which exacerbated the suffering of Syrian citizens and their efforts in combating terrorism.
For his part, the Resident Representative of the Regional Office expressed his high appreciation for the relations between Syria and the Organization.
Saleh also expressed his satisfaction with the achievements and projects implemented by the organization in cooperation with the Syrian government and it was agreed to integrate aspects related to initiatives and projects, which will be approved later.
The meeting was attended by Abdel Moneim Annan, Director of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Osama Ali, Director of the Deputy Minister's Office, Zina Ali, Deputy Minister's Office, and Mike Robson, Representative of the Organization in Syria.
