[16th Reuters]-Former US President Obama posted a cheering tweet to Prime Minister Trudeau who is struggling to re-election in the Canadian general election on 21st this month.

Obama said, “I was proud to work with Prime Minister Trudeau as president. He is a hardworking and capable leader who tackles major issues like climate change.”

"Now the world needs his progressive leadership. I hope the Canadians will support him for the second term," he said.

Mr. Obama and Mr. Trudeau have a close friendship and remain popular on social media after Obama left the White House in January 2017. This year, I was witnessed having dinner at an Ottawa restaurant.

Mr. Trudeau replied “Thank you, friend” with a tweet. “We are doing our best to keep making progress,” he said.
