(CNN Spanish) - Alejandro Toledo, former president of Peru, could be released on bail at the end of October or mid-November if the United States government does not respond to the judicial request to modify the conditions of detention of the ex-president, as it emerged on Thursday at a hearing in the Court of the Northern District of California, in San Francisco.

LaPunzina said during the hearing that his office plans to file a motion before October 21 related to Judge Chhabria's decision.

Judge Hixson made that decision after Toledo's defense complained in court that the bailiffs were being used by the prosecution
as intermediaries
