Haseloff and Gabriel agree that the AFD shares responsibility for the climate in which Halle's assassination was conceived. Earlier, so Gabriel, it would have been considered indecent to be right-wing radical. Haseloff said with regard to the AfD that in the current party landscape there is "one party too much". In dealing with right-wing extremism, the Prime Minister recommends a return to the political fight against left-wing terrorism in the 1970s: "The rule of law must set clear boundaries."
