The capacity-building project launched by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, which lasts until the end of this year, will target 800 workers in governmental and non-governmental care homes to increase their efficiency in the field of psychosocial support.

The project, which was launched in cooperation with the International First Aid Organization, is part of the ministry's work program in the field of training and rehabilitation and focuses on the definition of how to provide psychosocial support services to children, the elderly, people with disabilities, survivors of gender-based violence and others, in addition to the concept of case management to ensure the provision of high quality services. Alcoa pointed out that the targeted in the project are workers in the field of psychosocial support in the directorates of the central ministry and in the governorates and care centers and the similar role of a number of NGOs.

Al-Kuwa explained that the project was launched in its first phase in Damascus and its countryside, Homs, Hama, Latakia and Aleppo, where specialized training courses are held through specialized trainers from the international organization. The second stage involves the involvement of a number of workers in the same field from other governorates.

SANA monitored the views of a number of beneficiaries of the project, pointing out that Nour Baaj of the Social Services Directorate in the ministry that psychosocial support programs are one of the largest programs offered by the Ministry of Social Welfare Institutes and will contribute to enhancing the skills of cadres who provide these programs, especially in terms of psychological counseling and basic principles of management Psychological status especially in children.

According to Afra Ibrahim, from the Souran Community Center in Hama countryside, the project contributes to the rehabilitation and support suitable for each age group and the development of a specific time plan according to the needs of the applicant as well as the tools to assess the situation and the time to close it.

From the SARC Mental Health Section, Dalia Al-Ali explained that the courses will enable her to provide psychosocial support services and manage any situation systematically and thoroughly.

Mohamed Fatiri of the Association for Excellence in sponsoring the orphan in Damascus and Ola Fayad of the Ihsan Society in Aleppo pointed to the role of the project in raising their efficiency in the field of care for the elderly and the skills of communication with them and support and support them according to scientific standards, especially as the two societies have recently introduced this service.

It is noteworthy that the project has been implemented since its inception in the beginning of last September until today 12 training courses.
