CSU Party Congress: Söder calls AfD the "new NPD"

2019-10-18T14:58:37.295Z

In Munich, the CSU has come together for their party congress. In his speech, party leader Söder attacked the AFD sharply - and attacked the Greens.

After the Halle attack, CSU boss Markus Söder again sharply attacked the AfD. The AfD was certainly not a bourgeois party, Söder said at the CSU party conference in Munich. "The AfD is the new NPD."

The right-wing national wing around Björn Höcke says they are "arsonists," Söder said. "This wing is an anti-constitutional organization." Only without humps was the AFD "a normal democratic dialogue again possible."

Söder also pledges hatred and hate speech on the Internet. Evil thoughts in his head were followed by angry words in the net, and evil words could eventually be followed by evil deeds. Therefore one must defend oneself against hatred and Hetz in the InterNet.

The Greens as "main competitors"

Söder did not want to speculate on a possible government alliance with the Greens after the next federal election. "Nobody knows what's coming after an election," he said shortly before the start of the congress. The question will be who will be the main competitor, with whom there will be a TV duel. It'll be like in Bavaria: black against green.

If one wants to remain the leading political force in Germany, "then the Greens are now not the partner, but first of all the main competitor and the competitor". Therefore, people should be told clearly what the Greens want and what the Union wants.

It is currently in a phase where the differences are exposed, "and not yet where one anticipates any negotiations," said Söder.

In his speech at the Federal Party Congress Söder later sharply criticized the Greens. He told them to leave the political center and go back to old times. The constant teaching that better knowledge and the desire to transform Germany and Bavaria, this course of the Greens do not share the CSU.

Söder puts himself behind scouring

Söder stood behind his due to the failed car toll in the criticized party colleague, Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer. It is unfair to blame Scheuer for the decision of the European Court against the car toll, Söder said before the beginning of the congress.

In the planned by the FDP, Left and Greens Committee of Inquiry on the behavior of Scheuer in the award for the collection and control of the car toll, he sees more of an opportunity than a danger, said Scheuer. He could explain everything in the committee comprehensively and therefore thinks that the Minister "strengthened" comes from the committee of inquiry.

Scheuer had concluded in the fall of 2018 contracts to collect and control the toll, which had to be terminated after the surprising stop by the European Court of Justice again. The Confederation now faces financial claims by companies affected by the termination.
