Brasilia-SANA - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said international terrorism remains one of the main threats

Brasilia-Sana

Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev stressed that international terrorism remains one of the main threats to global security despite the defeat of international terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq.

Patrushev told a meeting of senior representatives of the BRICS on security issues in Brasilia today that the threat of a neutralized terrorist entity in the Middle East has been neutralized and international terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq have been largely defeated. However, these defeated terrorists in these countries are moving to other regions in the first place. The first is to Afghanistan and North Africa, as well as to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Patrushev warned of the tendency of terrorists to form sleeper cells around the world, warning of the growing expansion of so-called "low-cost terrorism and guerrilla tactics" through fugitive terrorists and the growing incidence of "individual extremism that is becoming more frequent on the basis of online material."

He pointed out that his country has been and remains in the forefront of the fight against terrorism in the world.
