[Reuters on the 17th]-Major electronic cigarette maker Jules Labs announced on the 17th that it would completely discontinue sales of all flavored electronic cigarettes except tobacco, mint and menthol in the US.
Jules will no longer sell mango, fruit, creme and cucumber-flavored electronic cigarettes on its website. Since sales at these retail stores ended last year, this decision means that these products will no longer be sold in the United States.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last month warned that Jules deceived consumers by selling their products as safer than cigarettes, and requested additional information about the amount of nicotine in the products. Shortly thereafter, the Trump administration announced a plan to completely ban flavored electronic cigarettes as the use of these products by teenagers is rapidly expanding.
KC Crosswait, who was newly appointed CEO, announced the decision to restore relations with regulators. He said in a statement that Jules needs to “reset the e-cigarette category by working together and gaining the trust of society” with regulators and policy makers.
Prior to this, he had suspended all advertising activities in the country and announced that he would no longer lobby for the ban on flavored electronic cigarettes banned by the Trump administration.
