(CNN) - An amendment to the Prime Minister agreement Boris Johnson has the potential to shake everything up, making Super Saturday, the first weekend session of the United Kingdom Parliament in 37 years, incredible.

The measure was proposed by Oliver Letwin, a deputy who was expelled from the Parliamentary Conservative Party last month when he supported legislation aimed at blocking a brexit without agreement, known as the Benn Law.

Letwin's amendment, which was supported by opposition parties, says that the House of Commons would "retain the support" of Johnson's plan until Parliament passes all the legislation required to implement the bill. Parliamentarians approved the amendment this Saturday.

Letwin's amendment was approved, so Benn and Johnson's Law would come into play now is obliged to write to the European Commission and request an extension of brexit until January 31. But he said he will refuse to do so.

Is Johnson's brexit dead?

Not necessarily. It simply means that all legislation promulgating the agreement must be approved first in Parliament.

Downing Street indicated Saturday that it would begin that process immediately. The government will present the draft Retirement Agreement (WAB), the legislation that enforces Johnson's Brexit agreement, to the House of Commons next week, a senior government source told CNN.

However, the government is deeply frustrated by the Letwin amendment, as it deprives Johnson of a direct vote on his agreement. "A vote for Letwin means that parliamentarians vote for all day demand, what they demanded, meaningless," the source told CNN.

Nick Boles, another conservative expat who co-signed the amendment, suggested that a vote in favor of the amendment could be read as a political indication of whether the House would eventually endorse the agreement, even though it would not be legal backing. But that is not necessarily the case: Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson has also signed the amendment, despite having completely opposed Brexit.
