(CNN) - Enrique and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will take a break from royal duties by the end of the year, dividing their time between the United States and the United Kingdom, a real source told CNN.
Confirmation of a break comes hours before an ITV documentary filmed during the couple's recent tour of South Africa is broadcast in the United Kingdom. In the images published before his broadcast, Enrique described the idea of moving to Africa as "surprising", but admitted that it was unlikely.

"I don't know where we could live in Africa right now," Harry told reporter Tom Bradby in the short excerpt from the documentary. "We just arrived from Cape Town, it would be an amazing place to live, of course."
"But with all the problems that are happening there, I just don't see how we could really make as much difference as we want without the problems and the judgment of how we could be there," he continued.
A real source told CNN that there were no firm plans yet, so he could not confirm the time the couple would take away from the public eye.
The couple will take a little "family time" towards the end of the year, from mid-November, once they have completed their current series of commitments, the source said.

They are likely to divide their time between the United States and the United Kingdom, the source added.
In another clip of the documentary, Meghan talks about the problems she has dealt with as a new mother and duchess, whose life has been judged and dissected by the media and the public since she began dating Prince Henry.
Holding back tears, Meghan thanks Bradby for asking about the impact the pressure has had on his mental and physical health.
"Thanks for asking. Not many people have asked if I'm fine, but it's very real to go behind the scenes, ”he said.
The couple has been under intense scrutiny lately. Meghan is suing the British newspaper Mail on Sunday for publishing an edited version of a private letter that Meghan sent to her father. The newspaper's editors have said that Meghan's father just wanted parts of the letter to be published.
Separately, Enrique is also suing the owners of the UK's sensationalist newspapers, The Sun and Daily Mirror, for allegedly hacking his phone.

In the documentary, "Enrique and Meghan: an African journey," the prince also says that each camera flash takes him "directly" to the death of his mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997 when his car crashed when I was being chased by a blow on a motorcycle.
When asked if he still feels at peace about Diana's death 22 years ago, the Duke, who was 12 years old at the time, admitted that his pain was still a "suppurating wound."
