(CNN Spanish) - Chilean Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick reported Sunday that 103 "serious events" have been registered in the country and that more than 700 people have been arrested in the last hours.

Chadwick also reported the death of two people in a supermarket in San Bernardo and that one more person was injured in 75 percent of his body. Hours earlier, the mayor of the Metropolitan Region, Karla Rubilar, had reported three deaths in that incident, but said the authorities were "collecting more details" at that time.

According to Chadwick, there are 62 police and 15 civilians injured. In total there are 716 detainees and “passed to the Prosecutor's Office” and 244 detainees for violating the curfew.

The riots forced the Chilean military to issue a curfew for the entire Santiago metropolitan region until 7:00 am local time (6:00 am ET) on Sunday, General Javier Iturriago del Campo confirmed Saturday the night.

Protests began in Santiago after the government proposed to increase the price of Metro tickets. Chilean President Sebastián Piñera announced on Saturday that the ministers will suspend the plan, after declaring the state of emergency the day before.

But the revocation has failed to stop the action.

Piñera had previously condemned violence and looting, saying that due to fluctuations in currency exchange, it was necessary to raise the price of public transport. But he added that he sympathized with those who faced the cost of the increases.
