Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia and the United States should restore normal diplomatic missions.
In an interview with Russia 1 channel published today, Lavrov stressed Moscow's readiness at any moment to solve problems with the US side and return to work normally in diplomatic institutions.
Lavrov blamed the former US administration of President Barack Obama for the problems that hinder the work of diplomatic missions in the two countries, noting that he discussed this matter with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently.
The United States announced in early September 2017 new restrictions on the work of Russian diplomatic missions in the United States, including the closure of the Russian Consulate General in the city of San Francisco and some consular buildings in Washington and New York and two diplomatic annexes in Washington and New York to include the trade mission, which Moscow responded later.
