Now, the cockroach of the cigarette is the last plague in New York captured on video giving itself to its favorite vice.
On Friday, lawyer Tom Kretchmar tweeted the video that shows the insect dragging a cigarette through a sewer grate, sometimes struggling, but apparently determined to get his dose of nicotine.

The video, filmed at the intersection of 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue, has earned more than 20,000 retweets and 94,000 likes.

Kretchmar said he watched the cockroach for 90 seconds before continuing.
And Twitter responded with a mixture of fascination and disgust.
"Whose is this ex boyfriend?" A user tweeted.
Others showed a strange empathy towards the cigarette cockroach.
"I suppose if you have a lifespan of only 160 days, you might think, 'Why not?'," NPR host Scott Simon tweeted.
"It has been an infernal week for all of us," Josh Grubbs tweeted.

Many others joked about the insect's desire to smoke.
"This is what happens when you ban the flavors of vaping," Hannah CM tweeted.
Unfortunately, nobody knows how the story ended. Kretchmar said he couldn't see if the cockroach sucked or not the cigarette.
