(CNN Spanish) - This Sunday, the South American soccer confederation, Conmebol, reaffirmed its commitment to play the only final of the 2019 Copa Libertadores in Chile at the Santiago National Stadium on Saturday, November 23.
Conmebol has said that it is in constant communication with the authorities in Chile related to the performance of the show and will continue analyzing the events in that country to take into account the safety of clubs, players, fans and media, for the first major unique final of the continental tournament.
The protests in Chile, which erupted last week over the announcement of the rise in the transport rate, have come with looting, chaos, vandalism and millionaire damage to Santiago de Chile. Although President Sebastián Piñera announced that he would push back the measure, discontent in the streets continues.
