The theme of the day: Unterhaus is not allowed to vote on Brexit
It is a seemingly endless drama: The British House of Commons will not vote this Monday over the Brexit agreement negotiated by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the EU. This was announced by Parliament President John Bercow in the afternoon in London. Bercow disagreed with a request from Johnson's government.
The House of Commons postponed the eagerly awaited vote on Johnson's Brexit deal on Saturday. Instead, parliamentarians voted in favor of an amendment that forced the prime minister to request another Brexit reprieve from the EU. In addition, the legislative package necessary for Brexit should first be passed by parliament. So the MEPs want to rule out that it will accidentally still come to an unregulated Brexit on 31 October.
Meanwhile, the Deutsche Bahn blew off the planned IPO of the British subsidiary Arriva because of the Brexit chaos.
